Shenandoah shows summary

This blog is a display for my projects. I make models of carnival rides out of knex and pipe cleaners and a few other items. They rack (tear down) like the real rides. If you are viewing this site for the first time let me give you a tour. Below are posts. If your new you might of missed some, so scroll threw and back to see other projects. To the right, is a tab that says pages. Click that and it will take you to a list of pages, including carnival terminology, and youtube, as well as a few others. Enjoy and comment. P.S. if you comment, don't ask me for, or leave any personal info. I ask that you address me as Shenandoah shows, or idog0698. Thank you.

The round up has been painted and was recently re lit with better electric lights.

I dont think I posted a pic of the spider with electric lights.
The chair swings were recently completely re built with 16 sweeps now instead of 8.

An areal view showing how many sweeps it now has.
Spider (pink) and vertigo (purple) trailers.
And also the pumpkin bears. It played a Halloween midway, and will then be destroyed. As I said I am disregarding the insignificant and focusing on the extreme.

the great painting has begun/ the painting process.

So I mentioned a wile back about the great painting of 2014. What that means Is that most of my rides, will be painted, instead of pipe cleaners. Wile pipe cleaners will still play a part, the over all look will be improved. I have already painted the red paratrooper, the rok n rol, the sidewinder, 2 new Ferris wheels, the rock o plane, the swinger, and the all new loop o plane!!! Now I am going to show you the painting process. This is the many steps it takes to paint a ride.  The step will be under each picture.
First the ride, in this case the side winder, is stripped down to bare knex. some peices that will be painted other colors will be removed and set aside. In this case the cars and a few others.
Then the ride is taken to the painting area, and set into different spaces for different parts.
Then the ride gets painted with spray paint. This one is blue.
Once the ride is painted, 2 or 3 coats later, it is brought back up to be put back together. some small parts will be put in the freezer to reduce the stickiness of the paint.
The ride is now put back together.

Then pipe cleaners are added where needed for racking.
Now paint markers put delicate lines on certain parts. This only applies to rides with small designs.
The designs on the cars are done. (the teal at the end of the white parts)

Now the ride is finished being painted.
Now, decoration pipe cleaners are put in place. These represent the lights.

The ride is finished mostly. extra parts were added after these pictures were taken, like lights and such.
The last step is rack the ride.
Now I have some new stuff to show so expect some pictures soon. One of them is I completely rebuilt my rock o plane wheel to look more accurate and have more racking capability's. stay tuned.

The skydiver

I am posting about a ride I have had since 7/3/14. I just did some work on it, and put color changing lights on it. So, for the first time ever, I present the skydiver.
                                                        up
                                                    lights
                                                  Racked
The trailer with the cars, braces, and spacers.
Also, the ride list page has been updated. The vertigo has been added, as well as the funnel force and rainbow, 2 I forgot to add.
I also have another brand new ride I will show later. The vertigo. I also plan to make the mulligan wheel. Stay tuned.

New stuff

So its been  a wile since I posted. Well I have some new stuff to show case.
The sidewinder now has electric green led lights. The real ride doesn't have led lights but the led lights put off the super bright green glow the real one has.
The super shot now has tan and yellow pipe cleaners going up its length
But when the lights are on, they are led lit.
The scat is back and is better than ever.
                                                And also has electric lights.
The hi rollers lights are on, and now the right side panel has cool white led lights.
The rapid slide has joined the midway, and now has flags,
                                                                  And lights.

A new wayout swings have been built, painted and lit.
                                                                    With led lights aswell.
The hustler has been built. It now has better décor,
                                                           and lights aswell.
The chair swings and other wayout swings now have electric lights.
The new pink and yellow wayout swings shown for the first time here.
The expo wheel now has some new editions to it.
The winch that folds and unfolds the wheel now has a motor on it, making it more efficient. (the sweeps also now have X shaped spacers in the middle. They are hard to see in these pics)
An all new bally has been added to it. Its the first custom bally I have done. (see carnival terminology for bally)
The real bally mine is based off of. Fun fact, I estimate around 10-20% of setup/teardown on rides is nothing but décor. Such as attaching ballys (expo wheel), un folding feather lights (swings), attaching flags (expo wheel), putting together cluster lights (super shot), raising signs (slides), and other décor. In fact, around 60% of the hustlers setup is pure décor. Take away the signs, and ballys, and gate cluster lights, and it would take like 20 minutes to set up. (that's the real ride not the knex ride, the knex ride takes around 15 minutes to get up)
Other changes not shown here are the new skydiver, led RGB lights on the purple paratrooper, green led lights on the spider, red paratrooper, old paratrooper, eli hy 5 2, carousel, and dinosaurs now have electric lights.

2 new updates

I posted about the seasonal process, and told that I was doing some work on my silver streak, chair swing, paratrooper, and slide. Well the paratrooper and silver streak aren't done yet, but the chair swings and slide are. Un believably, these changes were mostly all done in 1 day. Look at the caption, as some of these pics will be before, and some after.

before. (note no tarp, the tower is thinner, and the sweeps have no hinges)
After. The ride isn't fully up (feather lights not up and spacers not in place), but you can still see the changes.
                                                      Before. (feather lights, sign)

After. I realize its racked but you can still see the changes. I plan to do an article on the slide soon.

Soon I plan to post some older ride pics of how they looked in the beginning. stay tuned.
